BR Life Mother & Child Hospital in Udupi (MCH Udupi) has been built and run by BR Life as a totally free hospital to fulfill the dream and vision of our Chairman Dr. B R Shetty who wanted to provide the best medical services to the people of Udupi and beyond.
This hospital is the only one of its kind in the country built in a unique Private-Public Partnership with the Government of Karnataka and having world-class infrastructure and state-of-the-art medical equipment together with a team of highly accomplished doctors and clinical staff.
The hospital became fully operational on July 1st 2018, and in a very short span of time has come to be synonymous with high quality of clinical care and service.
MCH Udupi is a 200-bed facility spread over 7 floors (G + 6) comprising more than 1.5 Lakh sq. feet. There is no cash counter in the whole facility – consultation, room-stay, lab/diagnostics, surgeries, medicines are ALL FREE.
It is a fully air-conditioned facility with the latest fire-control systems and also incorporating “Green Technologies” to reduce our carbon-footprint.
We have a total of 330 people employed in the hospital today including OBG and Paediatric Consultants, Radiologist, Pathologist, Duty Doctors, Nurses and Para-medical, Housekeeping and Security, Operations and Facility – all working to ensure high quality of services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

90,000+ patients seen on OPD basis till date
11,000 patients treated as In-patients
3800 deliveries(normal + LSCS) till date of this around 1800 were LSCS
Currently, MCH Udupi sees an average of around 450+ out-patients on daily basis
Average of 12 deliveries a day (normal + LSCS)
Average of 15 Ultrasound scans per day
Treating patients from every district of Karnataka and also many from other states
THE WAY FORWARD:
Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) opened recently in MCH Udupi to provide succour to malnourished children of Udupi District. Currently having 5 beds, we hope to expand the scope and breadth of this critical program.
MCH Udupi is already part of the Central Government’s Laqshya program and NQAS – in addition to this we are firmly on the path to getting the NABH quality accreditation.
Designated as the highest referral center across all Government facilities across Udupi District and also from other neighboring districts – we even have our own WhatsApp referral group across PHCs and Taluk hospitals.
We have been selected as a role-model for all future PPP hospitals across the country and many states have approached BR Life to put in place similar projects.
Jointly working with Dr. BR & CR Shetty Foundation to increase our foot-print with more out-reach camps and medical events to bring medical services literally to the doorsteps of those most in need of it.
New Super Speciality Hospital being built opposite current MCH will further help once ready, as patients requiring specialised services can be referred directly and immediately with ease.
